I was on a run yesterday and heard a huge explosion on 9th St and saw a ton of smoke. I thought a house or car exploded. I went over and saw a neighbor outside and asked him about it. He said it was 1/4 of a stick of dynamite. He went on to say how this should be illegal and how annoying it was to hear all the fireworks going off. It reminded me again that most of the people in my neighborhood feel the same way I feel about the annoyances. Most of the annoyances come from that 1% of idiots that can be found in the ghetto as well as everywhere. Sometimes living in the inner-city, I feel that I am the only one who gets annoyed by fireworks, gunshots, yelling, loud base on cars or panhandlers but that really is naive to think this way. Most people who live in the inner-city are more like me than they are like the people shooting off 1/4 of a stick of dynamite. Those are the people that fight with me to make my neighborhood better and I need to appreciate that more.
