The other night we went up north camping. It was really nice to get out of the city and be in nature. The stars were incredible at night. My kids were able to run and bike around freely (which they can’t do in our neighborhood) and there was a sense of ease that we all had.

On the way home I thought about how many people from Milwaukee don’t ever get to get away. Recently I learned that 2/3 of the people in my zip code are in poverty. People in poverty don’t get to go camping. They don’t get to get away.  They really don’t get to ever have a break.  They are continually working to make rent, working to make sure they have enough food for their family, working to pay their light bills.

I can’t imagine a life where you don’t get to get away? A life where you don’t get to have a break? Were your constantly just trying to make it?
